INTRODUCTION TO YEAR 13 WORK

My name is Josh Dowsett and this is where I will post my year 13 media coursework. For this coursework I will be working with Jake Bourke. The tasks for this coursework are to create:
-          A teaser trailer for a film
-          A magazine cover which would promote our film
-          A poster which would also help promote our film
We are hoping that the audiences which see our trailer would want to watch our film and by having a poster and magazine cover it could help promote our film further more.
The genre of our film which we will be based on is ‘romantic’. We chose this because we realised by research that in previous years the majority of students have chose to do horror films. Also this year many of my fellow students have chosen to do horror films and therefore we believe that a romantic based idea would be completely different to the normality of these tasks.
For the film which we will be promoting we are going to be aiming to make the age rating a 12 plus. This is mainly due to fact that the characters in our film trailer are going to be around our age. This therefore makes our specific audience for people aged (17-25). We are hoping that the audience would then be able to relate the issues in our trailer to their real lives would make them want to the film if it was created.
The film institution we are going to be using is a made up institution which we have decided to name ‘comet cinema’. They will be seen as specialists in the field of romantic films which is different to any other big company in this industry.
The plot of the trailer in brief detail is:
-          Man meets woman
-          The two are shown happy in shots together
-          The two become very close to each other which will be easily seen
-          He goes to high profile university
-          Later on in year he comes back to visit only to find out she is with someone else
-          Final shots will be involving romantic shots and fighting to create drama which we are hoping would make people want to see the actual film.
The main selling point we will be trying to promote is that we are hoping the audience can relate their own lives to the trailer. Not only just emotionally but be Able to relate the things they see in their life to the nature in our trailer. This will hopefully bring a sense of normality to the trailer so the audience will feel part of it.
