Voice Over

As part of our film trailer we decided that we wanted to use a voice over to act as an additional voice so that it wasn’t the actors talking the whole time. To do this we used a recording device. We then had to find the right sort of voice for our trailer. The first step was deciding whether it should be male or female and after much discussion a female voice was chosen. We needed the voice to be sad as this is what we thought would best suit our trailer. We then put into imovie and had to edit bits which did not sound professional enough to be used in the trailer. The script read:

It's like you're screaming but no one can hear.

You almost feel ashamed that someone could be that important, that without them,

You feel like nothing can save you.

No one will ever understand how much it hurts.

You feel hopeless, like nothing can save you.

And when it's over and it's gone, you almost wish that you could have all that bad stuff back so you can have the good.

However we did not want the whole script to be read at one point of the trailer as it is too long so we broke it up as above and separated it throughout the trailer where we thought it work well with what the scene is showing.

One of our main actors in our film was under the age of 18 so we felt it only appropriate that we asked her parents permission that they know what the recording is for coursework purposes. We did this in a letter to her parents and in this letter we included a contract which is proof that they allowed their child to be recorded and if they did not wash for their daughter to be in the film then they simply did not have to reply. Here is a version of the letter we sent them.

RESEARCH - WHY PEOPLE ENJOY ROMANTIC FILMS

WHY PEOPLE ENJOY ROMANTIC FILMS

Romantic films are idealised throughout the cinema industry. This is because people like to be happy and enjoy feeling good so they see these films as the films create this sort of emotion. This genre more likely than not always has a happy ending so it is therefore not just a coincidence audiences like to watch these films. A  typical summary of these romantic films is that a man and woman go through all sort of trials and tribulations and eventually get to where the audience want them to be which is to be happy with each other.  They can then therefore get emotionally involved in the film which brings in the need to see more, this I believe is why this film genre is still widely applauded and used particularly in the winter as it is close to Christmas and in the summer. This is because these our times have happiness and joy for most (Christmas and the sun).

One type of sub genre has been used in the form of romance before is ‘tragedy’. Often people can relate their real lives to the situation the characters experiences in the film. This is another way in which audiences can feel part of the film but in a negative way. Another reason audiences would want to watch romantic films is due to the lack of romance in their own lives and therefore replaces this need of love by watching films. This could work in effect to be an escape from normal life for some. Also these films promote dreams for some people as these characters in specific films find the ideal person which is unnatural for real life but people watch these films as it makes them happy to think it.

People enjoy watching romantic films for many different reasons whether it is for a negative reason or positive. One of them main reasons this audience watch romances is because it gives them a sense of safety as there is happiness in the world for romantics.
